Greenlee Cottages can be found in the Canungra Valley a short drive south of the country town of Canungra and an easy 50 minute drive from the Gold Coast and hour drive from Brisbane.
The backdrop to the cottages is a remnant macadamia farm, nestled in the foothills of the Darlington Range, in Queensland’s beautiful Scenic Rim Region, with its boundary on the Canungra Creek.
Historic Canungra was known for its vibrant timber industry which dates back to to the 1880s. Timbers felled included silky oaks, hoop pines and red cedar. On our property you are able to see stands of these trees which have regrown over many years.
The local township of Canungra had a sawmill where the timbers would be carted by bullock and cart or by locomotive. Much of this history is documented in the Canungra Visitor Information Centre.
Our cottages – Silky Oak, Callistemon, Woodcutters and Casuarina – are named in honour of the most common native tree species found on our property.
Meet your hosts
Paul and Robyn Lee and family are the proud owner-operators of Greenlee Cottages. When they’re not welcoming guests to Greenlee Cottages they are busy tending their bees and cattle and planting trees. They look forward to welcoming you to their little slice of paradise.
An abundance of birds & wildlife
Greenlee Cottages is home to an abundance of birds and wildlife as a result of the great location we have, nestled in the hills of the Darlington Range, which is part of the Canungra Valley.
Wallabies and kangaroos can be seen regularly on the property. If you are lucky you might even spot a koala.
The Canungra Creek is a boundary to the property and this provides a haven for many creatures of the water such as Australian Bass, catfish, tortoises, platypus and many water birds.
Lamington National Park is well known for its wide variety of birdlife. Due to our close proximity to this magnificent National Park many birds such as king parrots, glossy black cockatoos and wedgetail eagles can be spotted throughout the year.
